An impressive career can conceal some of the darkest stories beneath. Lolo Jones, winner of both USA championships and World championships in the event of hurdles, has reached her current standing with lots of effort and a huge amount of patient. Jones, who was born to a motherless family that included five kids living who were stricken by poverty and hardship when she was a kid, endured an extremely challenging childhood. Her mother lived along the road and even inside the basement of a church in the area at times. Jones had to be moved into a new school each during her senior year because of this nomadic existence. She also was part of the team that won the 100-meter relay. Jones has won indoor hurdles at NCAA Championships both in 2003 and 2004.
